Circle Of Selene

I wrote 'Circle of Selene' from August 1-2 2020, which happened to be just in time for a full moon in Aquarius on the third. I was still early in my learning and was just beginning to seek out a deeper relationship with the Goddess and the Moon.

In the Greek pantheon of deity, Selene is the personification of the moon. This song just flowed and I felt deeply connected. I imagined myself on the beach at sunset waiting for the moon to rise. In the first verse, I mention a 'shimmering path' and that where the sun or moon light reflects on the ripples in water. I think that is one of the magical phenomena of this world.

The second verse highlights how I am grounding myself in order to commune with Selene. I feel that the shore line is a very sacred spot. At this point, I have arrived. I go on to describe how the water rises. The ebb and flow of the tide comes, and I soak up the healing while I let go of stress and worry as it flows back out. Now I am within the circle.

The final verse expresses how the energy of Selene and the moon are within me now. I am filled with her love and healing. In a way it is also a form of gratitude to her, especially when I think about creating jars of moon water from her power.

The production of the song was simple, since I really just used one percussion loop and I play guitar and sing over it. I find it so meditative and often sing it during my personal full moon ritual. The lyrics are below. Let me know what you feel when listening!

Walking along the shore

Waves kiss my tired feet

Facing the setting sun

A shimmering path where we could meet

The circle of Selene

Standing by myself

I sing in quiet retreat

Sinking into the sand

Sacred ground for a seat

At the circle of Selene

The tide is coming in

Its bath is to my knees

Soaking up the salt

Draining the dis-ease

In the circle of Selene

Swimming through my soul

Is your song from a star

As our moon rises

I will humbly fill my jar

From the circle of Selene

Circle of Selene
